Help InWorldz get a Small Business Grant with your vote

June 4, 2012

For those who don’t track the InWorldz forums recently Elenia (one of the Grid Founders) wrote in this post

InWorldz is a small business, and as such, one of our absolute biggest challenges is balancing funds with things that are needed for the grid. Paying out payroll, license fees, contractors, not the easiest thing to balance. Our bank, Chase, has an offering for small businesses and we’re going to need YOUR help. They are offering 12 small businesses a $250k grant to help them grow. To do so, we have to fill out an application, then we need 250 votes from our customers.

To get behind InWorldz and to vote you need to go to Mission: Small businesses
Scroll down log in to with Facebook (I used my RL account)
In the Business name Field simply type in InWorldz and click search all the either info about InWorldz comes up and you vote
It’s as easy as can be and really only takes a moment.

2011 OpenSim Grid Survey

December 9, 2011

Hypergrid Business is conducting a survey of open grid residents to find out about their experience on grids such as InWorldz

Maria Korolov states that “The goal of this survey is to help potential new residents and merchants identify grids they’d want to visit — and to help alleviate some of the fears that people have about OpenSim grids.”

So pop over there and let her know about the grid you spend most of your time on. Results will be available next week.

Aussie government censorship will not effect Second Life

July 1, 2009

Rumors in world have been more active than usual since the Sydney Morning Herald published a story that said web Filters were to censor video games including online games like Second Life. When I read it I dismissed the story  as probably bad reporting.  I have developed a very synical view on how anything to do with the net is reported by mainstream media, let alone how virtual worlds are covered.

I am pleased I dismissed the story  as both Dusan Writer’s and New World Notes have published comments from a Linden Lab spokesperson who had looked into this issue which states that there is no indication from the Australian government that it plans to block Second Life.

Ever since the rumor started, I have not been inworld once, without people talking about it. My annoyance peaked last night in a well known clothing store,  I could not help but over hear inopen chat, how stupid Australian’s were for allowing a government to interfere with online games.

So ddear reader, this post is more about being able to store and point to a few links that covered the issue rather than grit my teeth behind the screen while the rumor spreads.
