A Tale of Two Hoffmanns at MAAD

September 23, 2011

Have you visited MAAD (Museum of American Architecture and Design) in Inworldz lately? MAAD constantly surprises me as it always has something new to explore and the group gifts tie in with the latest exhibit. The museum showcases the designers and architects from the United States.

I paid a visit to The Tale of Two Hoffmanns, a furniture design exhibit that highlights the work of Josef and Wolfgang Hoffmann. Many of the pieces will interest builders of virtual worlds. I live in Australia but I had no trouble in recognising design trends that  Josef and Wolfgang Hoffmann influenced.

This month’s member’s gift is aimed squarely at builders as it includes textures inspired by Josef Hoffmann. Builders. You can use them in your own builds. This is my humble effort as I made this chair and cushions from the free textures.

If you are at all interested in design and its history come down out of that building platform and pay MAAD a visit. You will find the exhibit in the education building and the group gift in the main building.

Brain Circuit Inc. Steampunk hunt

September 16, 2011

I ran into Olivia Winterwolf this afternoon and her hands and face were covered in grease and she was looking distractedly around Brain Circuit Inc. Olivia then explained that in tinkering with her latest project she cut a wrong wire and a disastrous explosion took place throwing cogs all over her main store and land.

Fortunately no avatars were hurt in this explosion but she does need help to find the cogs and clean up the place. As a result she is offering a prize to those who find all the cogs. Don’t miss this hunt the  Steampunk Insurgent outfit (pictured above) is a great prize. Some cogs are a little difficult to find as it took me about an hour to do the whole hunt but the prize is great.

Location is at Brain Circuit Inc. main store at Blues Bayou. To find it search for Brain Circuit under the classifieds tab and take the teleport.

Work in Progress report

September 14, 2011

Time for a work in progress update! I have been a very busy little vegemite (just gave away the nationality with that expression) and thought I would share some photos of what I have been up to.
I was feeling a bit dissatisfied with Mille, so a month or so ago I decided to do some major renovations and additions. One thing lead to another and a fairly major re-build has been underway.
The Mill building has been softened with Wisteria that has made its way up the walls and to a trellis on the second floor. I added things like sculpt windows, shutters and window flower boxes. The courtyard had been divided and I have display room in the courtyard.

The gallery spaces have been expanded which allows for better viewing and I bow have room for more Objet d’art. The space also has a more airy feel.

In the last month lots of other places and things in the region has be either been rebuilt, added too or totally changed.
The Roman Ruin area has had a total re-vamp and every visitor I have had to place has liked it. I like the tone of the mood too so added a picnic rug and some pose balls for people to lounge around and chat.
I added another waterway which tumbles down the hill side to become a waterfall that rushes into the roman Ruin.

The fun news is that I have also built a small maze which is situated next to the Mill.

Also to be hunted for, discovered and explored is a  grotto  with caves and underground passageways.

If you feel like venturing out and exploring a bit come over an pay a visit . Type Teal Etzel into search under the people tab and look in my profile picks. All are welcome.  As you can see I have been busy!
